Top 5 Cleansers to Try for Oily Acne Prone Skin

In previous posts, we discussed the importance of cleansing is to maintain healthy skin, this includes how important it is to choose a cleanser right for your skin. Here I have a few recommendations of cleansers that I think are worthy to try for oily, acne-prone skin.

1st Cleansers

Simple Cleansing Oil

Made with pure grapeseed oil, this cleansing oil is perfect for acne-prone skin. Grapeseed oil has high linoleic acid levels, even higher than in rosehip seed oil. Linoleic acid aids in the reduction and prevention of acne.

Heimish All Clean Balm

Heimish All Clean Balm is said to be the improved version of the Banila Co Clean It Zero. The All Clean Balm was developed by the same people who developed Clean It Zero. The formula was stripped back and they improved the formula with better ingredients. These ingredients, compared to CIZ is much more suited for oily, acne-prone skin. For starters, ACB does not use mineral oil as a solvent and it contains citrus extract, rose extract and tea tree leaf oil extracts which are golden ingredients for acne-prone skin.

2nd Cleansers

Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Cream Wash

Apart from the refreshing scent and appealing colour, Neutrogena’s Pink Grapefruit line has been a lifesaver for me. It contains 2% salicylic acid and has a pH of about 4 (according to manufacturer). Salicylic acid will cut through sebum clogging the pores while regulating the skin’s pH.

Vichy Normaderm 3 in 1

I recently discovered this product and it has become a travel favourite because it is a wash, scrub and mask in one. I’m not usually a huge fan of scrubs because physical exfoliation can further aggravate irritated skin. The pumice in this is very fine, but if you have sensitive skin, I would steer clear.

It contains glycolic acid, salicylic acid and clay which is a trifecta of products that is beneficial to oily, acne-prone skin. Glycolic acid along with the small pumice granules will exfoliate the skin to get rid of dead skin cells, we know what salicylic acid does and clay will help to suck out gunk in the pores and help to reduce oiliness.

Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser

Ah, the prodigal product of acne-prone skin. One of the frontiers of low pH cleansers, Cosrx products are known for its effective and stripped back products. This cleanser is a cult favourite because of how gentle it is, and how it keep the skin at a balanced pH. Best of all, it is one of the most affordable and easily obtained Korean skincare brand in the market.
